Thorne & Derrick are the UK's leading distributors of High Voltage Power Cable Accessories and Hazardous Area Electrical Products supplying worldwide to the Utilities, Renewable Energy, Construction, Rail, Oil and Gas, Petrochemical and Process sectors.
Thorne and Derrick are looking for an enthusiastic, talented and hardworking individual to join their Chester-le-Street team as an SEO Specialist. This is a career opportunity for the right candidate.
The Role
Over the past 15 years we have had excellent performance from our websites and this has been based in part on exceptionally strong organic search engine results.
The tasks that have made this happen have been spread between existing team members, but we now wish to make this a dedicated role within the organisation. The successful applicant will be working as part of a Marketing team and will report to the Sales and Marketing Manager.
Tasks
The candidate should have a minimum of 2 A Levels or equivalent and have 5 Good GCSE passes including Maths and English.
Experience
Two years working in an SEO focused role, preferably in a Business to Business environment, but that is not essential.
Salary
From £28k per year depending on experience

Tasks
- Carrying out keyword research using software such as Moz to optimise web content around high-value keyword traffic
- Tracking metrics such as organic traffic, conversion rates and time spent on page using GA4
- Close collaborative engagement with our supply-chain to define and action joint working plans to improve metrics
- Generating unique ideas for getting newsworthy coverage for target keywords in our industry
- Monitoring and reporting on search trends and SEO performance via approved channels.
- Analysing in-house and external websites and social media pages to make recommendations for improvement
- Performing competitor analysis to identify content gaps and areas for improvement in website SEO
- Staying up to date with dynamic new SEO, social media and digital marketing industry trends, tools and practices
- Using Excel spreadsheets to compile reports
- Implementing link-building strategies actively prospecting and securing strong back-link profile
- Making suggestions for SEO-friendly content creation
- Providing keyword insights and SEO advice for other teams within the organisation
- Optimising webpages for mobile devices
- Excellent verbal and written communications
- Analytical skills and the ability to work with large data sets
- The ability to prioritise tasks and complete to a deadline
- Attention to detail when pulling data from multiple platforms
- Interpersonal skills to manage relationships with supply-chain, influencers and stake-holders
- Project management skills
- An inquisitive nature and an ability to think creatively and independently
- Problem solving and decision making
