Location: Humberside Fire and Rescue Service Headquarters, Hybrid Working (3 days office based, 2 days remote)

No two days are the same at Humberside Fire and Rescue. From troubleshooting C# programs in the morning to designing new mobile apps in the afternoon,adaptability, and the ability to prioritise tasks based on business needs are crucial.

The Digital Services Team comprises of Innovation, Solutions and Assurance departments, this role is in the Digital Innovation Team.

Current skills
- Streamlining inefficient processes by creating bespoke development in modern programming languages. This includes contributing to application development and enhancing/supporting existing development. (HFRS use C#, Python and VB.net)
- Comfortable with web development languages to assist in creating and extending web apps. (HFRS use HTML, Java Script and CSS)
- Ability to develop applications using low code options for innovative solutions to problems (HFRS use O365 tools including, Power Apps and Power Automate)
Ability to learn
- Understanding of Azure cloud-based platforms and resources.
- Knowledge of assisting to create scoping, requirement, and specification documents as part of stakeholder engagement. Translating requirements into clear user stories to be worked on.
- Skills around working with externally hosted authenticated APIs and handling data returned in both JSON and XML formats.
- Mobile app development utilising a range of tools and platforms.
- Ability to provide system support for both new and existing development.
- Contribute to managing development projects using Dev Ops and code bases utilising close version control, branches and pull requests. (HFRS use Microsoft Azure Dev Ops)
- Assist with the continuous improvement of systems including the review of existing systems and suggestion of new items to develop.
- Overview of agile project management including sprints, user stories and breaking down projects into smaller tasks. (HFRS run weekly sprints using Scrum methodologies)
