Specialty Doctor in Anaesthetics

The post holders will have full registration with the General Medical Council and will have completed at least 2 years of training and service in hospitals recognised by the Royal College of Anaesthetists for training purposes, in the St R, CT or FTSTA grade.
Applicants who have had all of their training overseas should demonstrate that they have completed at least three years in the specialty of Anaesthesia in posts which have offered a breadth and depth of experience comparable to that obtainable in the United Kingdom during a similar training period.
Principal elements of the post will be:
1. Providing elective for a mixture of surgical specialty sessions such as orthopaedics, ENT, upper GI, colorectal or gynaecology.
2. Providing emergency cover for emergency work including all surgical specialities excluding trauma, obstetrics, crash calls and the Emergency Department.

The post holder is managerially accountable to the Divisional Operational Manager, Division of Surgery and clinically accountable to the Divisional Director, Division of Surgery.
