Job Title : TDA Resident Engineer LAN and Wifi
Work Location: Person to be based on customer site in Milton, Abingdon Oxfordshire, United Kingdom.
Network Design and Deployment

• Network Architecture Design: Design and implement network architecture for LAN and Wi-Fi to meet organizational requirements and industry best practices.
• Configuration and Setup: Configure and deploy network devices including routers, switches, access points, and firewalls.
• Expansion and Upgrades: Plan and execute network expansion projects and upgrades to accommodate growth and new technologies.
• Site Surveys: Perform or review site surveys to validate the physical placement of access points (APs) and ensure optimal coverage and signal strength.
• User Authentication: Design and implement robust user authentication mechanisms to safeguard network access. Integration with Directory Services: Integrate Wi-Fi authentication with directory services (e.g., LDAP, Active Directo) for centralized management of user credentials and access rights.

Network Monitoring and Management

• Network Monitoring: Utilize network monitoring tools to continuously monitor the performance and health of LAN and Wi-Fi networks.\
• Performance Optimization: Analyze network performance data to identify bottlenecks and optimize network performance.
• Proactive Maintenance: Conduct regular maintenance tasks including firmware updates, patch management, and hardware replacements.

Security Management

• Access Control: Implement and manage network access control mechanisms, including 802.1 X authentication for wired and wireless networks.
• Policy Enforcement: Configure and manage network policies using Aruba Clear Pass that controls user access based on roles, ensuring that authentication mechanisms are consistently enforced.
• Security Protocols: Configure and enforce security protocols such as WPA3, VPNs, and firewall rules to protect network integrity.
• Incident Response: Respond to security incidents and vulnerabilities, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.

Troubleshooting and Support

• Issue Resolution: Diagnose and resolve network issues related to connectivity, performance, and security for both LAN and Wi-Fi networks.
• End-User Support: Provide technical support to end-users, addressing network
• related issues and ensuring minimal downtime.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and incident reports.

Capacity Planning and Performance Management

• Capacity Planning: Assess current network capacity and plan for future requirements based on growth and technological advancements.
• Performance Management: Monitor network usage and performance, ensuring efficient bandwidth utilization and optimal performance.

Vendor Management and Coordination

• Vendor Coordination: Work with hardware and software vendors to procure necessary equipment, manage warranties, and resolve technical issues.
• Service Level Agreements (SLAs): Ensure vendors meet SLAs for network performance, support, and maintenance.

Requirements

• 15+ Years of experience with LAN/WAN network design, engineering, and certification.
• Knowledge in Agile process is required.
• Experience in using test tools like Ixia/Spirent, Latency generators, Wireshark.
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
• Basic Knowledge of Firewalls
• Collaborate and co-ordinate with Network and Security teams, and vendors.
• Ability to deal with multiple projects and prioritize the tasks and work under minimal supervision.
