Full Time, Maternity Cover

South Lincolnshire Academies Trust is seeking to appoint inspirational, a highly motivated and enthusiastic Teacher of Art & Design to cover a maternity leave of absence at Giles Academy in Old Leake. The successful candidate will teach across the age range, including examination groups.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ECT or experienced teacher to join a thriving and highly motivated Trust (all our ECTs are well supported by an excellent induction programme). Although this is initially a maternity cover, for the right candidate opportunities will exist within the Trust.
The Department for Education have ranked South Lincolnshire Academies Trust as the 12th top performing Trust in the whole of England out of 213 Multi Academy Trusts with three or more schools.
All students study Art and Design in Year 7, 8 and 9 for one hour. In Year 10 students can select to study general Art and Design or Textiles, increasing study to three hours per week.
The successful candidate will have:

• Qualified teacher status;
• The ability to teach GCSE Art & Design up to KS4;
• The ability to motivate students and achieve excellent results;
• Excellent organisational and ICT skills;
• Outstanding career progression opportunities;
• An awareness of effective assessment and use of data to track student progress;
• The capacity to work collaboratively as part of a team;
• A passion for the subject and the ability to share this with young people.

Giles Academy is an oversubscribed non-selective mixed 11-16 secondary school and joined South Lincolnshire Academies Trust in September 2020.

• The school is performing ABOVE national average (based on a Progress 8 score of +0.08 in 2023).
• Giles Academy is the top performing school locally in the Boston area (along with Cowley Academy) and outperforms local grammar schools.
• In May 2023, Ofsted graded the school as Good with outstanding features. Prior to joining the Trust in 2020, Giles Academy was previously graded Inadequate in 2019 and requiring special measures. Under the Trust leadership, the school has made incredible progress.
