Releasing Potential is a unique independent special school which caters for students aged 11-18 with social, emotional and mental health needs. We serve the local authorities of Hampshire and West Sussex.

Overview of the role
  • To secure high quality teaching, effective use of resources and improve standards of learning and achievement for all pupils in consultation with the Headteacher and Senior Lead for curriculum and learning.
  • To teach a range of skills and techniques as necessary to ensure the effective delivery of our bespoke curriculum.
Requirements
  • Manual drivers licence
  • 1 year minimum of special education experience
  • 1 year minimum of Functional skills tutoring
· We require a Functional Skills Tutor with the experience and or/ability to plan and deliver a curriculum that spans Functional Skills, Entry Level 1 to Level 2. Plus support the development of our curriculum vision that has a whole school impact.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate robustness & resilience as the role can be extremely rewarding but very demanding. It is important to be able to maintain a level of calm and have excellent communication skills with both adults and young people. It is essential to have good organisational skills, the ability to multitask and act as a role model for students.
The ideal applicant will have recent experience of working with children with SEN. Experience in Social, Emotional and Communication Difficulties would be advantageous. This is an excellent opportunity, focusing on supporting SEMH students to become more independent and provide them with skills and experiences that will enable them to be successful in life.

Commitment to Safeguarding Children:
· To ensure awareness of School policy and procedures re Child Protection and Safeguarding
· To be aware of the signs and symptoms of abuse by participating in regular training
· To report all causes for concern to the Safeguarding Lead
· To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children RP works with
Pay Scale: 25,773 to £29,964, actual salary not pro rata
A valid manual driving licence is essential for this role.
