Armed Security Officer Job Summary
Patrol KC is hiring for Armed Security Officers to join our team. You will patrol the interior and exterior of your scheduled post, as well as monitor a closed-circuit television feed to prevent unauthorized access and limit other incidents. Candidates must be able to obtain an armed security commission through the Kansas City Private Officers Licensing Unit and any other city you conduct security in. You must be able to collaborate with the other members of our team to limit any potential risks. We expect each infraction to be thoroughly investigated and properly documented.
Armed Security Officer Duties and Responsibilities
- Patrol an area for any safety or security risks
- Carry a weapon for de-escalation and defensive purposes
- Prevent unauthorized access to the area and the items within
- Respond to reported incidents as necessary
- Monitor a closed-circuit television for potential issues
- Maintain a log of any activities
- Document any visitors to the property
- Coordinate with law enforcement as necessary
- Minimum of 1-year armed security experience.
- Must have a reliable means of communication, such as a cell phone.
- Must have a reliable means of transportation (private) and valid DL.
- Must have the legal right to work in the United States.
- Must have the ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently.
- Must have a high school diploma, secondary education equivalent, or GED.
- Must have a clean driving record with no accidents or major violations.
- Must have own equipment including, but not limited to: Duty belt, Firearm (with level 2 holster) Black BDU style pants and clean black boots and vest.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, sharing information with a varied audience.
- Knowledge of security operations and procedures.
- Capable of learning a variety of security and safety devices and controls.
- Ability to use a computer and a working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Planning, organizing and leadership skills. Strong customer service and service delivery orientation.
- Ability to interact effectively at various social levels and cross diverse cultures.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to use and learn communication technologies.
- Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers.
- Maintaining composure in dealing with authorities, executives, clients, staff and the public, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.
- May be exposed to stressful situations, such as challenging individuals who are in or approaching an unauthorized area.
- May be required to work overtime without advance notice.
- Required ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
- Seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing clearly in order to communicate with employees and clients, observe and report incidents, and direct others.
- Frequent sitting, standing, and walking, which may be required for long periods of time, and may involve climbing stairs and walking up inclines and on uneven terrain.
- Occasionally reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds, occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds, and additional lifting and/or moving ability as might be required for the assigned site.
- Close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- On occasion may be required to perform stressful and physical activity.
- Depending upon assignment may be exposed to inclement weather or be required to work in environments or under conditions that require the use of protective gear and devices and/or awareness of personal safety and safety of others.
- May be exposed to or required to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Compensation:
- Starting Salary $18.50-$19.50 depending on experience level and equipment.
Pay: $17.41 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
Schedule:
- 10 hour shift
- 12 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Holidays
- Night shift
- Overnight shift
- Overtime
- Weekends as needed
- Armed Security: 1 year (Required)
- Kansas City, MO (Required)
- Kansas City, MO: Relocate before starting work (Required)
