ATHLETE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
CLASSIFICATION: Year-round; Full-time
FLSA: Exempt
REPORTS TO: VP of High Performance
LOCATION: Center of Excellence, Park City, Utah
TRAVEL: <10 days a year
TOTAL COMPENSATION: $70,000 plus a 5% annual bonus potential

SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE

The Athlete Professional Development Manager will provide U.S. Ski and Snowboard athletes education & career support services while also managing their required appearances for U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s commercial partnerships and philanthropic events.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Roles and responsibilities for this role are as follows:
Athlete Experience
  • Measure and identify program needs and services that support the goals for delivery of athlete education and career transition services.
  • Be the primary point of contact for career and education related needs for all U.S. Ski & Snowboard athletes and alumni, providing guidance and advice where needed.
  • Support planning and execution of the annual Rookie Camp with Athletic Coordinator.
  • Deliver workshops, in person and virtual, to educate athletes on career & education programs and services and related topics.
  • Coordinate athlete participation in educational and internship programs and work to create more of these opportunities with partner organizations
  • Act as liaison to USOPC Career & Education department to identify program and service opportunities, and help U.S. Ski & Snowboard athletes better understand and utilize the USOPC resources available to them (including in-state tuition, tuition grants, etc.)
  • Provide transition support and conduct exit interviews when off-boarding athletes and alumni.
  • Create and maintain Career & Education Toolkit on website
  • Manage all aspects of athlete engagement (from invitation to execution) with Foundation and Partnership events including New York Gold Medal Gala, regional receptions, Board of Trustees meetings, hospitality programs, team fundraisers, partner receptions, and World Cup appearances.
  • Assist with athlete engagement on Foundation campaigns and direct marketing.

Operational Excellence

  • Work with Chief of Sport to develop athlete sponsor guidelines within the annual athlete agreement.
  • Work cross-departmentally to enable effective communication.
  • Maintain relationships with key external partners including key donors to the career & education program
  • Maintain Athlete Appearance Tracker.
  • Facilitate the End of Year report of athlete engagement.
  • Track OKRs for ACE department, including athlete engagement and program utilization

Financial Performance

  • Track resources and meet service goals within given budget.
  • Execute bi-annual tuition reimbursement process, working jointly with Accounting Department
  • Execute athlete grant and scholarship application and payment processes
  • Provide financial reporting for Foundation in support of grant applications and impact reports

COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher is required
  • Knowledge of preparatory and collegiate academic systems is required
  • Project leadership and planning skills
  • Relationship management (with athletes as clients, partner orgs, internal & external stakeholders)
  • High level communication skills (both writing and speaking, in English)
  • Ability to plan larger projects and problem solve issues that slow down projects
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to rally others around a cause, and communicate value
  • Professional presentation skills using Excel, Power Point and other programs to illustrate tracking and reporting statistics, educational presentations and program opportunities
