Sam Schwartz Pedestrian Traffic Management Services, Inc. (SSPTMS) is on a mission to inspire hope, power, and potential. Founded in 2014 and headquartered in NYC, SSPTMS specializes in providing clients with comprehensive traffic management solutions that work to improve even the most complex of traffic situations.
Our firm was developed by Sam Schwartz (famously known as “Gridlock Sam”), a pioneer in traffic engineering and management. Sam is a recognized traffic expert with over 40 years’ experience in the public and private sectors, even having served as New York City’s Traffic Commissioner in the 1980s. Sam is also a regular contributor to the New York Times and Queens Chronicle.
SSPTMS primary services the entire New York City metropolitan area, but our services are used throughout the United States and are ever-expanding.
Currently, we are seeking experienced supervisors to join us on a full-time basis for work in Queens, New York (JFK International Airport, Terminal 4).
About the Field Supervisor Position:
The Field Supervisor at JFK Terminal 4 is the primary, on-site liaison between SSPTMS and the client. The Field Supervisor reports to the Account Manager and General Manager and is responsible for ensuring the work site is operated in a manner consistent with our contracts, policies, and applicable legal or safety standards, all while maintaining strong working relationships with SSPTMS, our employees, and the client.
Work is done outdoors and in all weather conditions.
For consideration, candidates MUST meet the following qualifications:

• Available to work at least one (1) weekend day (Saturday or Sunday).
• Available to work morning (0600 x 1800) or overnight (1800 x 0600) tours.
• 3+ years of previous experience working in traffic management, airport security, or other safety related experience.
• 3+ years previous supervisory experience required (military, law enforcement, or traffic enforcement supervisory experience preferred, but not required).
• Excellent active listening and verbal/written communication skills (including consistent and reliable cell phone and email access).
• Excellent people skills, de-escalation skills, and report writing skills.
• Licensed NYS Security Guard.
• Flagger, OSHA-30, and SST certifications within sixty (60) days of hire.

Field Supervisor Job Description:

• Facilitate the smooth, secure flow of traffic in high volume areas.
• Understand and apply safe traffic control practices.
• Provide shift oversight and direction to all subordinates to meet the standards established by the client and the policy and procedural requirements established by SSPTMS.
• Provide a staffing report before the start of each tour and at the end of each tour.
• Prepare detailed incident reports and ensure incidents are adjudicated correctly with proper notification.
• Respond to all unusual occurrences; execute emergency response plans when necessary.
• Mentor and assess personnel and make recommendations to management.
• Audit and inspect subordinates and site conditions and provide feedback.
• Work alongside law/traffic enforcement officers and other traffic control mechanisms in the area.
• Perform other additional tasks that are deemed job-related by the client and/or SSPTMS.
• Maintain frequent and positive contact with SSPTMS personnel, clients, and public.

Other Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must speak English.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must have reliable transportation to/from the work site(s).
• Valid NY/NJ Driver License (preferred).

FLSA Status and Salary:
The Field Supervisor is a full-time, non-exempt position. SSPTMS is committed to equitable pay. As part of that commitment, we have provided the estimated compensation range for this position of $27.00 to $32.00 hourly.
