Job Summary:
The plastics Inspector works directly with the Department Supervisor to ensure final surface quality and dimensions are within drawing specifications.
Summary of Essential Job Duties:
- Responsible for all in-process visual quality inspections of plastics product line during all phases of production
- Responsible for ensuring De-gating final dimensions are within drawing specifications.
- Work with Set-up technicians to resolve any de-gating set up and run discrepancies.
- Notify department Supervisor with any issues with De-gating processes.
- Work directly with Department Supervisor to resolve any quality discrepancies
- Ensure department policies and procedures are followed– including completing all Production data logs
- Responsible for Following Lean Manufacturing fundamentals including 5S standards and housekeeping
Qualifications and Competencies:
Knowledge & Skills:
- Preferred -Understand blueprints, specifications, manufacturing processes and procedures.
- Exercise independent judgment when inspecting parts acceptability for further operations
- Ability to follow direction and constructive feedback on individual performance.
- Ability to maintain composure in a variety of situations.
- Ability to identify and solve problems.
- Proficient math skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Intermediate computer skills and windows navigation, Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
- Good with time management skills
- Excellent organizational skills
Requirements and Competencies:
Language Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents. Ability to communicate effectively to team members and management.
Educational/Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- Preferred- 1+ years previous experience in a manufacturing environment
- Preferred - 1+ years previous Optical and/or Mechanical Inspections.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts.

Work Requirements:
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands & fingers, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. May involve prolonged periods of magnified inspection (eye strain)
- Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.
- The job may involve prolong periods of standing.
- Highly repetitive work, usually in a fixed body position for a sustained period of time.
- The employee is frequently required to use the computer.
Work Environment:
- May involve the use of oils and solvents.
- Subject to some soilage and irritation from cleaning solutions. (Lab Coats provided)
- Generally works in a clean environment and works to maintain the environment as such.
- Safety Glasses and hearing protection are required
- May require area specific safety training
- The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes
- May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shifts from one station to another, during the production process.
