International Trade Consultant

IMPORTANT: This is a project-based researcher role. Our clients are seeking individuals with active or recent experience in government, international organizations, or think tanks in order to most effectively provide research and consultative analysis on geopolitical shifts in policy relating to international trade.
Job Summary:
This is an exciting project based role with significant flexibility and the possibility to scale into a full-time position. This new role is for a multi-national client that engages in heavy trade between the US, China, and APAC region and is needing to expand the scope of their trade, investments, and economics analytics.
The International Trade Analyst will be responsible for conducting trade compliance analysis, utilizing analytical skills to gather and interpret data, monitoring international trade regulations, recording changes to trade processes, and trading activities between China, US, and APAC. The International Trade Analyst will also collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure up to date intelligence to help our client with economic and trade decision making, especially as it relates to their investments, and expansion strategies.
Responsibilities:
  • Risk Analysis: Assessing economic and political risks that could affect investments and trade.
  • Opportunity Identification: Identifying potential markets and trade opportunities based on geopolitical shifts.
  • Policy Analysis: Evaluating the impacts of local, national, and international policies on trade dynamics.
  • Reporting and Advising: Providing strategic advice to organizations or government bodies based on analyses.
Non-Negotiable Requirements:
· Experience in government bodies like the State Department, international organizations (e.g., United Nations, World Trade Organization), or reputable think tanks that focus on international trade and economic policies. Such experience is vital in understanding the complex dynamics of international markets and geopolitical impacts on trade, investments, and business strategy.
· Preferred but not required: Having an active network in international bodies, government sectors, or global economic forums.
Qualifications
  • Trade Compliance and International Trade skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • A network of close contacts within government, or government adjacent organizations
  • Experience in trading and import regulations
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Knowledge of international trade processes and policies between the US and China
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and remotely
  • Bachelor's degree in International Business, Economics, Diplomacy, International Relations, or related fields.
