We are looking for someone who is compassionate and loves to help. This individual must be an experienced, competent Phlebotomist and must have previous experience as a Lead in a clinic or hospital environment in processing lab kits, requisition forms, etc., as a Lab Technician. We utilize both conventional and alternative methods to facilitate the body's innate healing response.

The Laboratory (Lab) Technician has the utmost responsibility to maintain a sterile lab environment for the collection and processing of all samples. This position includes phlebotomy as the Lab Technician will also collect blood specimens from patients for diagnostic purposes as directed by protocol or practitioner.
The Lab Technician is there to make the patient feel comfortable and get them through all their ordered lab testing so that they can move forward and begin treatment at Life Works Wellness Center. This is done through the education of the patient on the importance of completing all their lab tests and following up with patients as applicable to assist them by answering their questions or directing them to the consultant/checkout to pay for any required lab tests.

Tuesday-Thursday: 8:45AM-5:00PM
Friday: 8:45AM-4:00PM
Job Duties:
· Manage their daily schedule to ensure patients have no delay and so as to prevent scheduling conflicts.
· Perform the set up and clean up checklist daily so as to ensure that the lab is kept sterile and prepared for patient specimen collection.
· Delivers correct lab testing to multiple patients as per standard protocol including collecting specimens from patients (blood, stool, saliva, urine, or tissue) in a professional and competent manner.
· Packages collected specimens securely and in the required fashion as directed by protocol of receiving lab so that they are received in the correct condition required for processing.
· Tracks patient lab tests to ensure that specimens are received by the processing lab.
· Follows up with patients, directing them to their consultant to pay for additional testing if needed, and taking appropriate steps to ensure that the patient is completed on their lab testing and therefore able to start treatment.
· Records all actions taken with the patient in their chart so that it can be clearly seen what lab tests were delivered to the patient.
· Keeps track of all test kit inventory, rotating stock to prevent expiration of test kits.
· Provides inventory orders so as to maintain adequate stock so as to ensure timely delivery to patients of all required lab testing.
· Constant alertness to any patient emergency and ensuring they get immediate assistance by bringing any patient emergency to the attention of the Lab Team Lead and emergency protocol procedure.
· Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures, thereby complying with legal regulations.
· Serves and protects the Doctor’s practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Manage the personnel in the Lab and ensure functions and duties are being performed per our policy and protocols.
· Ensure the the highest standard of care is given to the patients and the phlebotomy being performed by personnel in the lab.
· Monitoring performance and standards of the personnel in the lab.
· Maintain professional relationships with our vendors and external contacts which process our labs.
· Responsible for the inventory, administration and tracking of processes and duties of the Lab and coordination with the other departments to carry out all responsibilities of the Lab.
Education and/or Experience:
· Graduate of Highschool/GED or equivalent
· Licensed Phlebotomist with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.
· 3+ years in healthcare with familiarity of medical/lab terminology.
· Must love to help people.
· Demonstrated patience with people who are ill. Must be very compassionate.
· Superior communication and patient service skills
· Able to type at least 40WPM with intermediate computer skills including being able to access lab data bases, input patient tracking information and update patient charting (EMR).
· Able to operate routine office equipment such as printing labels, operating a copy machine, etc.
· Superior organizational skills and able to multitask.

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
