INTRODUCTION
Applied Physics Systems is seeking a Mechanical Assembler for our Mountain View, California office. Our company designs and manufactures highly accurate and robust magnetic and gravity sensors, and guidance and orientation systems for navigation, telemetry/wireless communications, and magnetic field measurement in the aerospace, defense, unmanned mobility, medical, research, and energy industries.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Read, comprehend, interpret, and follow engineering blueprints, schematics, and assembly instructions to accurately assemble products in a timely manner

• Rework and/or repair assembled products according to engineering specification changes

• Utilize hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to complete assemblies with precision

• Inspect parts and assemblies to ensure they meet quality and safety standards

• Cable preparation; including stripping, thinning, and labeling

• Soldering and assembling various parts

• Gluing and sealing using epoxies, glues and other compounds

• Identify and report any issues or defects during assembly and making adjustments as instructed

• Collaborate with engineers and production team members to resolve issues and improve assembly processes

• Document assembly processes, noting any adjustments or modifications for future reference

• Ability to identify product defects and report these issues to appropriate personnel

• Perform quality testing/inspections to ensure product meets quality standards

• Perform routine maintenance on assembly tools and equipment

JOB REQUIRMENTS

• High School Diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certificate is a plus

• 1-3 years of proven experience as a Mechanical Assembler or similar role in manufacturing

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings and schematics

• Attention to detail and a commitment to quality

• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality standards

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team environment

• Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions in English

• Perform other duties as assigned

• Physical ability to lift up to 35 lbs. and stand or sit for extended periods

• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

• Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet deadlines

• Must be authorized to work in the United States
