Position Title: Resettlement Driver and Support
Reports to: Reception and Placement (R&P) Program Manager
Status: Short-Term/Full-Time, In-Person
Location: Silver Spring, MD
Job Summary – This position provides transportation and logistical support for newly resettled refugees and asylees, ensuring they can access critical services and appointments. The driver will also be responsible for picking up laptops and checks, contributing to the efficient operation of the resettlement process.
Key Responsibilities:
· Client Transportation: Transport clients to and from essential appointments, such as medical visits, public benefit offices, housing inspections, and job interviews.
· Airport Pickup: Provide timely airport pickups for arriving clients, ensuring they are safely transported to their new housing.
· Laptop and Check Pickups: Pick up and deliver laptops and checks as required by the agency, ensuring accurate and timely collection and delivery.
· Orientation to Local Transportation: Assist clients in learning how to navigate local public transportation systems.
· Vehicle Maintenance: Ensure the agency vehicle is well-maintained, clean, and safe for use. Report any maintenance or mechanical issues promptly.
· Collaborative Communication: Maintain regular communication with the R&P Program Manager and case managers to coordinate schedules and logistics for client transportation and pickups.
· Client Safety: Ensure clients' safety during transport and provide basic cultural orientation about local rules and regulations (e.g., pedestrian and road safety).
· Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate logs of trips, mileage, and vehicle maintenance for reporting purposes.
· Attend weekly staffing meetings with supervisor and report on ongoing service delivery, outcomes and escalated issue
· Participate in the community-wide activities that promote ACC’s goal
· Perform other task as needed
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.). in social work or related field; or one to two years of related training and experience; or other equivalent combination of education and demonstrated experience.
· Experience: Previous experience in a transportation or driver role preferred, particularly in a social services setting.
· Licensing: Must possess a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record and access to own transportation
· Knowledge: Familiarity with the local area (Silver Spring, MD) and surrounding communities is a plus.
Skills:
· Excellent time management and organizational skills.
· Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
· Fluency in other languages is preferred, especially those spoken by refugee communities.
· Compassion and cultural sensitivity when working with refugees and asylees.
· Fluency in foreign languages a plus.
· ·Self-directed, motivated and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
· Maintains punctuality for work, appointments
· ·Must work well in a team setting.
· ·Commitment to the mission, vision and values of ECDC
· Required computer skills: Word, Excel, Internet, Gmail, Outlook. Comfortable in utilizing new programs and database

Physical Demands
· Moderate physical activity, which includes standing, sitting, lifting and carrying furniture and suitcases, and walking.
· Ability to see and hear within normal parameters.
· Requires local travel pick-up clients at the airport and take them to their home and to a variety of appointments; and to attend meetings locally.
· Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
Environmental Factors
Primarily operates in a vehicle and outdoors for periods of time. Some work may occur in indoor settings when assisting clients at appointments or collecting items.
Performance Criteria
Related to job responsibilities, core competencies, and performance goals developed with supervisor and set annually.
