Cannabis Laboratory Sampler

This position is responsible for preparing for and conducting sampling in the field, safely and securely transporting cannabis samples and relevant documentation to the laboratory for processing, and accessioning samples into tracking software.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Sample Collection:

• Contact clients to determine their sampling needs to create a sampling plan (e.g.# of batches, requested analyses, sample information) and schedule sample collection
• Drive to and from sampling locations while maximizing driving route efficiency.
• Follow all laboratory standard operating procedures (SOP) and State regulations.
• Interact professionally and courteously with clients during sample collection process.
• Randomly select samples for testing following SOP’s and a defined sampling plan.
• Document sample and client information.
• Maintain proper chain of custody of the samples and transport conditions from the client to the laboratory.
• Complete vehicle operational logs and minor maintenance as needed
• Clean, sterilize, and maintain sampling supply/equipment inventory.

Sample Accessioning:

• Follow good documentation practices, data integrity principles and safety protocols
• Receive samples and verify appropriate receipt conditions, including weighing sample and all necessary intake forms.
• Enter order with required sample information into the laboratory information system (LIS) and state monitoring system (Metrc)
• Support the laboratory through functions such as organizing, filing of laboratory records, retrieving test items from retention

Other

• Promote a professional company image through excellent customer relationship skills.
• Communicate customer inquiries, routing or schedule change requests, and/or complaints to the account manager and laboratory team.
• Suggest and implement continuous process improvement initiatives.
• Perform other activities as assigned by management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Associate Degree in biological, chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related sciences from an accredited college or university is required. BS preferred.
• Previous food or cannabis sampling experience is highly preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license; must have and maintain a clean driving record
• Background check (required by law).
• Must be able to lift 35 lbs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel.
• Reliable, honest, detail oriented, and work with integrity.
• Ability to display critical thinking and problem-solving techniques.

Working Conditions

• This job may include some extended work hours or weekend work during harvest and other busy seasons.
• This job may entail driving 3+ hours each way to grow and processing sites.

Physical Requirements

• This job requires long periods of standing. This job requires driving.
