Our Payment Solutions team is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to partner with their Data Services team. Their team’s mission is to establish the long-term data strategy of our Payment Systems in order to provide the most innovative and efficient payment processing solutions delivered with unparalleled customer service and support.

This position can be worked remotely within the United States. Working hours will flexibly be 8am-5pm EST. Must be willing to participate in a weekly on call rotation.

What you’ll be responsible for:

Takes action to ensure the health, performance, and availability of all database services on the My SQL/AWS and Microsoft SQL server platforms.
Educating the current Microsoft SQL Server DBA Team on best practices on a My SQL/AWS platform.
Takes ownership of platform issues with CPU, Memory, Wait Events, Disk, Top long-running or slow queries. Recommends and provides solutions appropriately and partners with Development and DBA teams to implement solutions.
Implements Data Retention Policies.
Conduct code reviews with peers and developers.
Mentors DBAs that are less experienced on the My SQL/AWS cloud platform.
Prepares implementation plans for application upgrades and may coordinate rollout.
Designs database reporting infrastructure.
Monitors server performance and makes changes as needed. May design performance monitoring systems.
Works closely with developers, support and QA teams to design and optimize all DB environments.
Prepares scripts to automate administration tasks.
Performs advanced database administration activities including; installation, configuration, monitoring, space management, database backup and recovery, and may design disaster recovery procedures.
Plans and performs database server upgrades and determines standards for server configuration.
Performs database reviews and provides input to database design.
Writes and reviews stored procedures and makes recommendations for optimization.
Participation in a regular on-call rotation.
May perform other job duties as assigned.

What you’ll need to have:

Minimum of 8 years of experience in My SQL Database Administration (5.7 and newer). Please ensure the version they have experience with is listed in their resume, 8.x is most desired.
Minimum of 5 years cloud-based DBA experience on an AWS platform.
Must be able to work weekends as needed and as part of an on-call rotation.
Secondary DBA Skills with Microsoft SQL Server on versions 2016 or later.
Bachelor’s degree.

What would be nice for you to have:

Experience in the Scrum or other Agile framework.
Fin Tech experience or experience working with data in a highly regulated environment.
Ability to write, modify, and review queries and advise others on best practices of query development.
Abie to provide guidance on physical and logical design patterns for relational systems.
