League One Volleyball (LOVB, pronounced “love”) is reimagining the sport of volleyball, and is the only professional league that has a youth-to-pro ecosystem. We believe in the power of sport to create better life outcomes for those who play it.

Launched in 2019, LOVB today has the largest youth volleyball community in the U.S., with over 14,000 youth athletes across twenty-six states. LOVB is launching its pro league in January 2025 from the grassroots up, built from its foundation of junior volleyball clubs and led by the world’s best professional players. The idea behind LOVB is championing athletes through their entire volleyball journey, from getting introduced to the sport and developing as youth players, to supporting their recruitment to college programs, to creating pathways for athletes to play professional volleyball here in the United States.

It is a groundbreaking time for volleyball, with record audiences viewing the college game, volleyball the #1 most played girls' U.S. youth team sport, and 38M current and former players across the country today. Through LOVB, we are focused on driving both participation in the sport and its fandom, while actively supporting youth and professional players. In this role, you will join a mission-driven, roll-up-your-sleeves team of innovators and builders who have come together to change the paradigm of professional volleyball and women’s sport.

The Role:

The Senior Staff Accountant role is a unique opportunity to be a part of the success of LOVB volleyball clubs. This fully remote role will manage the books for various volleyball clubs and be responsible for accurately capturing revenue and expenses and closing the books timely. Work with club management on payables and expense reconciliation. Providing mentorship to the accounting team, collaborating with upper management on complex accounting matters, internal controls and providing best practice techniques.

Key Activities:
  • Complete ownership of various club books across all GL accounts in accordance to US GAAP.
  • Review, analyze, implement and maintain the organization's accounting operation; establish, develop, and/or recommend objectives, policies, and procedures to management to identify risks and as part of audit readiness.
  • Timely month-end closing of the GL and preparation of all related reports and reconciliations, including operational accounting - GL, AP, fixed assets, payroll accruals, inter-company accounting, and consolidation.
  • Review monthly accounting close activities, including producing financial reports.
  • Build efficiencies through maximizing systems automated processes and integrations.
  • Research, analyze, and interpret complex technical accounting issues and new accounting standards.
  • Support annual audits performed by external auditors.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to scale and automate manual procedures
  • Assist management in completing special projects and analyses on an ad-hoc basis
  • Improve and enhance best practice processes, procedures and internal control, promoting operational efficiency and compliance.
  • Respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.

Experience:
  • 8 years experience in a staff accounting role
  • Accounting experience in a start-up environment
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and tax compliance
  • Net Suite experience and CPA preferred
  • Internal controls and intercompany reconciliations
  • GL account reconciliations
  • Payroll accounting
  • Best practice processes and procedures
  • Inventory accounting
  • Process and review various journal entries

Location:
Flexibility to work anywhere in the US with willingness to travel for regular off-sites and other business-related destinations. Preference will be given to a candidate located in one of our Pro cities.

The annual base salary for this role is $65,000-85,000, plus our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based on work experience, education and/or skill level, among other things.
