Systems and Software Automation Engineer, Early Career

What you'll do:

The TAMS End-to-End System Test team is responsible for connecting all kinds of users to Viasat’s world class satellite networks including residential home users in the United States and abroad, airline passengers, government personnel, and rural communities. Our team has our hands on many of Viasat’s exciting projects, and is essential to ensuring the wide scale function of our systems.

The day-to-day:

As part of this team, you will be involved in closing the gap between Pre-production and Production environments to proactively prevent issues from escaping to customers. Our team members enjoy working closely with each other utilizing an Agile development methodology which gives you flexibility to work on and learn new aspects of our system. We build and maintain our own Python libraries and scripts, control our test suite deployments using tools such as Git and Jenkins, and monitor system performance in various test environments. Being a member of the team gives you exposure to a wide variety of Viasat’s projects such as video streaming partnerships, hybrid satellite and terrestrial Internet solutions, and our innovative in-flight internet solutions.

Additional Information:

This position is located onsite. Viasat embraces a flexible work environment and onsite/hybrid work is determined by individual roles and teams. Relocation assistance is available pending eligibility
Viasat offers the following pre-determined start date options for incoming US Early Career hires:
- Monday, May 5th, 2025
- Monday, June 2nd, 2025
- Monday, July 7th, 2025
- Monday, August 4th, 2025

What you'll need:Education Requirements:

Completion of a Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, computer engineering or equivalent between May 2023 and August 2025

Additional Requirements:

Basic experience with navigating and working with Linux command line
Previous coding experience with and desire to learn Python
Knowledge or experience with deployment tools such as Git, Jenkins, and Amazon Web Services
Knowledge of wired and wireless communication networks
Knowledge of TCP/IP network fundamentals
Strong communication and collaboration skills

Salary range: $86,500.00 - $123,000.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $107,000.00- $145,000.00/ annually : At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional cash or stock incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
