Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the GTA / Global Banking and Markets Engineering in USA ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.


What You’ll Do

• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
• Ability to conduct user research, gather insights, and understand user needs and behaviors.
• Able to lead Design Thinking sessions and facilitate user requirements gathering for small to medium sized projects
• Understanding of designing interactive elements and user flows to optimize the user experience.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code using React.js and related technologies.
• project management, planning and execution of small to medium initiatives
• Able to maintain Java Script code developed by other team members and refactor into more supportable code when needed.
• Implement Data Caching in a React App.
• Create React Apps which consume REST APIs and Dockerize the app.
• Understanding of front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, Java Script) to effectively collaborate with developers and implement designs.
• Deploy & Host a React JS App in VM or Cloud environment.
• Write SQL to interrogate databases and connect to a front end application for basic CRUD interactions.
• Keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality in design deliverables.
• Willingness to stay updated with industry trends, emerging design tools, and best practices to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Develop and maintain design documentation, guidelines, and best practices in Confluence.
• Participate in architectural reviews and provide technical oversight to ensure alignment with business goals and technology strategy.
• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, and to present and articulate design concepts and decisions.
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

What You’ll Bring

• A bachelor’s degree in graphic design, user experience design, computer science or a related field,
• Knowledge of user research methodologies to gather insights about user needs and preferences.
• Good understanding of coding languages like HTML, CSS, and Java Script is required.
• Skills in creating wireframes and prototypes to visualize designs before development.
• International / cross cultural working experience preferred.
