As a Workers’ Compensation Claims Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that injured employees receive the support and benefits they are entitled to while also protecting the interests of the employer and the workers' compensation system. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.

  • Accurately and efficiently process claims for Workers’ Compensation benefits, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

  • Review and assess the eligibility of claimants based on established criteria and guidelines.
  • Provide timely and accurate information to claimants regarding their benefits, addressing inquiries and concerns professionally.
  • Maintain meticulous records of claims, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed and filed appropriately. Generate reports as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations, and policies governing Workers’ Compensation benefits to ensure compliance.
  • Handle disputes and appeals related to benefit claims, working to find fair and equitable resolutions.
  • Work closely with other departmental staff to ensure seamless service delivery and adherence to departmental goals.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to claims processing.


Qualifications


PREFERENCES:

Preference may be given to those with Claims Management and/or Claims Service experience.
Preference may be given to those with Customer Service experience.
Preference may be given to those with a Bachelor's degree in Management and/or Social Services and Psychology.

KNOWLEDGE:


  • Knowledge of customer service standards.
  • Knowledge of case management practices to determine needs, create reasonable plans, and follow clients through successful program completion.
  • Ability to actively listen to others in order to foster a positive exchange of information and provide solutions according to policy.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Experience:
0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Benefits and Eligibility)
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Benefits and Eligibility)
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
None

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • This position takes place in an average work environment.
  • Some travel may be required.
