Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Snake Handler to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of local snake species, safety protocols, and relevant handling techniques. This role involves responding to callouts, handling and relocating snakes safely, and engaging with clients to provide information, and reassurance.
you will also be required to assist in maintaining the collection of animals we have, assist in running snake handling courses and reptile awareness training.
Key Responsibilities:

• Snake Capture & Relocation: Safely capture and relocate snakes from residential, commercial, and rural areas, ensuring minimal stress to the animal and safety for the handler.
• Client Interaction: Educate clients about local snake species and safe practices, providing calm and professional support during interactions.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and adhere to local wildlife regulations and handling guidelines.
• Documentation: Record details of each callout, including species identification, location, and handling techniques used.
• Community Engagement: Occasionally participate in educational workshops, demonstrations, and events to promote awareness and respect for reptiles in the community.
• Provide safe training in the field of venomous snake handling courses.
• Assist in the husbandry of a wide variety of reptiles

Qualifications:

• Previous experience handling snakes or other reptiles (preferred)
• Knowledge of local snake species and general wildlife behavior
• Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to work on-call, including weekends and evenings
• Physical ability to work in various outdoor environments and handle reptiles safely
• Ability to travel interstate when required
