Position summary
The Food Room Production Hand - Utility role, is a casual position in our Brite Pak Division of Brite. This role, in conjunction with other Team Leaders, has responsibility for:
  • Ensuring production goals are met at the required level of quality
  • Maintain safety and quality standards
  • Contribute to maintaining quality accreditation

Brite is a training and employment social enterprise based in Broadmeadows. Brite is a profit for purpose business providing ongoing supported employment to people with disability. Brite has operated in Broadmeadows for over 47 years. We currently employ 200 people with disability. In addition, we offer a wide range of support services to further develop our employees’ capabilities to access improved social and economic opportunities in the community.

Brite operates three divisions:
  • Brite Pak, a manufacturing pick pack dispatch, warehousing, and food packing business providing a range of services to a large number of local and multi-national clients.
  • Brite Plants, a Nursery Industry Accreditation Scheme Australia (NAISA) accredited wholesale nursery. Plants supplies plant stock to local councils, landscapers, builders/developers across Melbourne and regional Victoria.
  • Brite Institute, a boutique registered training organisation operating across Melbourne providing high quality learning outcomes for clients across a range of qualifications.


Working at Brite
Working at Brite often requires working alongside vulnerable people. Due to the nature of our work, we require all team members to complete an NDIS Worker Screening Clearance and Working with Children Check.

Responsibilities


Production Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Organises appropriate equipment and machinery to run production
  • Follows safety policies and procedures and maintains safety standards
  • Monitors production processes and where necessary modifies to improve efficiency
  • Monitors and maintains quality standards
  • Trouble shoots and problem solves routine day to day operational matters
  • Liaises with the Team Leaders and Pak Manager to ensure a smooth flow of information and product to achieve production goals
  • Maintain an aesthetically pleasing working area
  • Update and maintain records of production


Contributing to Occupational Health and Safety processes
  • To be fully aware of and comply with current responsibilities and requirements of the OHS Act 2004, regulations and organisational policies, quality procedures and working instructions applicable to their activities
  • To report all hazards, incidents and injuries in accordance with legislation, and Brite Services reporting procedures
  • Ensure liaison with employee health and safety representatives and supervisors and staff in regard to OHS issues
  • Wear and use protective safety equipment when identified as appropriate.


Knowledge, skills and experience
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge in working constructively within a successful team environment.
  • Be able to demonstrate a willingness to meet production demands and priorities, meet tight timeframes and maintain quality assurance standards.
  • Ability to communicate and work with other Team Leaders, Manager and the Chief Executive Officer to practically implement and attain strategic corporate objectives and outcomes and the strategic objectives and outcomes of Brite Services.
  • Sound knowledge and practical application of occupational health & safety standards and processes that will ensure a safe working environment for all team members, employees at Brite Services.


Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
  • Experience within the food packing and production industries.


Additional Requirements:

  • Current drivers’ licence.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance and Working with Children check.


Days of Work:

  • Monday-Friday
  • Weekend work may be required on some rare occasions
