Horse Trainer - Breeding
Lime Country Thoroughbreds is a breeding farm, training and preparing weanlings and yearlings, foaling and agistment enterprise located in the Hunter Valley area of NSW.
The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of industry best practice, with either international experience or a thorough understanding of the global trends of the thoroughbred industry.
Horse Trainer/Breeding (foaling and yearlings)
Duties will include:

• Early education of young stock
• Training and preparing horses for major sales

o Educating horses to be groomed and accept bridle, head collar, rug etc.
o Teaching horses to walk, stand and parade correctly
o Parade and caring for horses at sales
o Overseeing daily care and supervision of horses
o Re-educating horses to resolve problems such as biting and kicking

• Foaling, including pre- and post-natal care of broodmares and foals
• Assisting Veterinarians with ultrasound/reproduction examination including assisting in birthing foals and administering medical treatment to foals
• Overseeing daily care and supervision of horses
• Monitoring mare ovulation and pregnancy

Essential Skills:
· All applicants must have a minimum of at least 3 years full time professional experience in the role
· Proven knowledge & experience of horse handling & training methods specific to the thoroughbred racing and breeding industry
· Oral & written communication skills of a level to take instruction & prepare basic reports
· Sound knowledge of health & safety obligations & demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training & breeding of horses
Terms of Employment
This is a full-time position, with weekend work required to ensure animal welfare.
Salary package of between $70,000 to $80,000 pa. Subsidised accommodation may be offered.
