Industry Engagement Adviser - HASS

As the Industry Engagement Adviser in the Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS disciplines), you will play a crucial role in building and maintaining relationships between Edith Cowan University and diverse external partners, such as industry, government, and community organisations. At ECU HASS encompasses our Schools of Education, Arts and Humanities, Business and Law and the Western Australian Academy for the Performing Arts.

This is a re-envisioned role and the successful person will use their project management and communication skills to coordinate research engagement opportunities across and external to the University, working with academic staff, Higher Degree by Research candidates and professional services.

This role is essential for maximising the economic and societal impact of the university's research and fostering meaningful collaborations that drive mutually beneficial outcomes.

Key responsibilities:
Developing and implementing strategies to enhance the University's engagement with external partners and to scope business development opportunities, ensuring alignment with the university's goals and objectives (see ECU Strategic Plan 2022-2026 ).
Providing advice and support to academic staff on how to engage with industry partners effectively and leverage these relationships for mutual benefit.
Acting as a liaison between the University and external partners, ensuring clear and effective communication to support ongoing and future collaborations.
Organising and managing events that bring together university members and external stakeholders to foster networking and partnership opportunities.
Connect academic staff and students with industry partners for collaborative research projects, internships, and other opportunities.

Selection criteria:
Strong Communication Skills: The ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders, including industry partners, academic staff, and students, is crucial. This includes both verbal and written communication.
Relationship Management: Proven experience in building and maintaining productive relationships with industry partners. This involves networking, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. This includes planning, organising, and overseeing project activities.
Strategic Thinking: The capacity to develop and implement strategies that align with both university goals and industry needs. This involves understanding trends in the humanities and social sciences, such as policy changes, societal challenges, and cultural shifts, and identifying opportunities for collaboration.
Subject Matter Expertise: A solid understanding of the specific disciplines within the humanities and social sciences. This includes staying updated on academic research, industry developments, and technological advancements relevant to these fields.
A well-established network of industry partners relevant to Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences disciplines will be an advantage.
You will also demonstrate personal attributes that are congruent with the University’s values of Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry, Courage and Personal Excellence.

Benefits & Remuneration
This fixed term, full-time position attracts a remuneration of $100,512 to $112,622 pa plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
