A seasoned Information Architect helps a large QLD Government agency to select and deliver a contemporary Enterprise Content Management solution.
Job Title: Information Architect
Contract: Initial contract through Oct 2025, with 2x 12 month possible extensions
Location: Brisbane Northern Suburb
Summary
Our client, a large, complex and rapidly growing Queensland Government agency, is seeking an Information Architect to contribute to the success of their Information Management (IM) Program. This role will support key initiatives, including Information, Content and Records Solution and Correspondence Management Projects.
The program aims to select and deliver a contemporary Enterprise Content Management solution which will replace current legacy applications that support document, records, and correspondence management, and uplift their information management capability.
The role encompasses proactive engagement and communication with the business representatives; program and project team members; Strategy & Architecture team; ICT subject matter experts; and implementation partners. It is anticipated these will be large, complex projects and the Information Architect will be required to work across all levels of the organisation.
Responsibilities

Work across multiple architectural domains including business, information, data, application, integration, technology, security, and operational.
Analyse and understand the current-state information landscape including information assets, document and record keeping applications, and IM policies, procedures, standards, and legislation.
Design and develop future-state information architecture for the ECM solution with a primary focus on business, information, data, and security domains.
Develop supporting artefacts for data migration activities ensuring alignment to future-state information architecture for the ECM solution.
Support service designs for future-state IM services.
Support the design of future-state IM policy instruments.
Develop testing requirements to evaluate the effectiveness of the future-state information architecture.
Support development of longer-term roadmaps for IM maturity uplift aligned to the ECM solution.

Outcomes and accountabilities:

Design and develop future-state information architecture for the ECM solution including information classifications, taxonomies, labelling, indexing, metadata, code sets, business glossaries/terminology, business rules, and information security classifications and access controls to support the goals of improving organisation, navigation, and discoverability of information.
Analyse current-state information already gathered by the projects and carry out further engagement with key business stakeholders to design and refine future-state information architecture for the ECM solution.
Design future-state information security for the ECM solution addressing users, roles, groups, controls aligning with project in-scope the business needs.
Create clear and comprehensive documentation (for example information models/frameworks) that outlines the information architecture and provides guidance and direction for the detailed design and implementation of the ECM solution. This includes but not limited to:
- Future-state information structures/hierarchy, classifications, taxonomies, business glossaries/terminology and detailed relationships between the information pieces.
- Future-state Information Security Model addressing users, roles, groups and controls.
- Relevant information strategies/plans e.g. search/indexing, navigation, master data and metadata.
- Information architecture governance plans/business rules to support ongoing maintenance of information architecture elements.
Create and execute detailed workplans with regular status and exception reporting.
Ensure the overall direction and integrity of architectural products adhere to relevant Queensland Government architecture and IM Program strategies, roadmaps, principles, policies, and standards.
Champion efforts to improve business performance through enterprise IM solutions and capabilities, such as master data management, metadata management, business intelligence, content management, data integration, and related information management or information infrastructure disciplines and components.
Participate and present to Architecture Review Board (ARB) and Design Review Board (DRB) design reviews.

Mandatory Requirements:

8+ year's proven experience in providing advice, guidance, assurance, and delivery of information architectural designs for large enterprise solutions.
Proficiency with developing greenfield target state information architecture designs including actionable insights and implementation plans to support the target state solution.
Experience with information architecture best practices and methods including relevant Queensland Government architecture strategies, roadmaps, principles, target architecture, policies, and standards.
Demonstrated communication and presentation capabilities, adept at simplifying complex architectural concepts for audiences without a technical background.

Highly Desirable Requirements:

Previous experience working on transformation projects related to information management, ECM solutions and/or electronic document and records management.
Security architecture experience including cyber/information security.
Experience with the application of emerging Artificial Intelligence capabilities in the field of Information Management.
Previous experience working in a similar regulatory environment.
