The Parent Pathways Program is a free pre-employment program that helps parents and guardians of young children to build skills and confidence and prepare for the workforce.



Starting a family is a special and rewarding time, but a lot of parents find themselves in a position at one point or another needing to get back into the workforce, whether it be for financial reasons, or to step into a new career to find professional independence again.



The program aims to address any challenges or concerns within the parent’s immediate family to enable them to focus on the future and identify areas of interest and set career goals. Further support with building skills and gaining qualifications is also be provided.



Services are tailored to meet parents’ needs and support them in overcoming personal barriers and become ready to find work or enter further education when the time is right.

The Program Manager will oversee and manage the program and ensure the Service is being delivered consistently with Program objectives. The role will also manage Parent Mentors, Senior Parent Mentors and Parent Engagement Coordinators and ensure all staff are meeting performance requirements.



How will
the Parent Program Manager oversee the service?

  • Ensure the Service is being delivered consistently with Deed requirements, and relevant guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Ensure the Region and staff achieve and continue to achieve performance requirements
  • Manage and lead staff professionally and identify further development where required
  • Ensure Mentors in each Region have a consistent caseload of 50 Parents and are delivering high quality trauma informed case management
  • Ensure the delivery and coordination of a range of high-quality events, networking opportunities and activities that will attract eligible Parents to the Service
  • Coordinate place-based activities, sessions, guest speakers that are attractive and requested by Parents
  • Ensure the Parents Advisory Committee in the Region is established and operating
  • Engage with relevant community organisations
  • Provide a calm, respectful, welcoming, and child friendly service to maintain engagement
  • Practice an empathetic approach towards parents and their circumstances to help build trusted relationships to achieve positive outcomes


What skills
and experience does the Parent Program Manager need to possess to ensure the service is successful?

  • Ability to lead a team a positively influence capability and performance
  • Empathy and understanding of working with Parents experiencing disadvantage, trauma and financial distress
  • Ability to effectively work with a culturally diverse range of Parents, employers, education and community service providers and staff
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage confidently with internal, external organisations, staff and Parents
  • Excellent writing skills to write resumes, cover letters, assessments, referrals and case notes
  • Strong Labour Market knowledge
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply both corporate and operational policy and procedure.
  • A minimum Bachelor level qualification in a relevant field such as (but not limited to) Social Work, Community Services, Employment Services, Education or Early Childhood Education and Care, Health or Society and Culture, OR demonstrated experience in human or employment services, or similar field.
