Youth Justice
Program Development Officer

- One of the referees should be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, where possible, who can attest to the applicant's background, knowledge, skills and experience as they relate to the cultural capabilities.
- Drivers' license: it is a mandatory requirement for the occupant of this position to hold an unrestricted 'c' class driver's licence as officers are required to drive government vehicles as a part of their day-to-day work.
- Blue card: this role provides support services to children and young people and therefore will require a valid Blue Card with the organisation. Please refer to the Blue Card Services website (http://www.bluecard.qld.gov.au/) for further information.
- Travel away from centre: while the position is based in Mt. Isa, travel within the region for site visits and to other regional offices may be required in this role. This may include overnight stays.
- Develop, deliver and support the provision of local programs and services consistent with case plans in accordance with relevant legislative provisions, strategic priorities, statutory delegations, department policies, procedures and contemporary best practice.
- Maintain knowledge of contemporary trends, practices, funding initiatives and service delivery options to ensure the delivery of best practice youth justice programs and services.
- Consult with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in relation to the development and maintenance of services for young people subject to youth justice interventions.
- Facilitate communication between youth justice staff and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to ensure programs and services provided to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are culturally appropriate.
- Participate productively and collaboratively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in delivering programs and services to clients.
- Develop and maintain a relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, people and services.
- Provide support and advice to colleagues on culturally appropriate services in a youth justice context.
