Aboriginal Health Practitioner / Health Practitioner Clinical Services
This position works within a small team environment with the aim of improving the health status of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through the provision of comprehensive and culturally appropriate primary health care services.
Position Term: Ongoing, 37.5 Hours per week

Aboriginal Health Practitioner / Health Practitioner – Mobile Clinic

This position requires travel to the Northern and Southern Goldfields areas on a regular basis, up to 3-4 days at a time.
After Care Service Worker
The Culture Care Connect Aftercare Services Worker is responsible for providing assertive and timely follow-up care for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people referred to this service following a suicide attempt or suicidal crisis, in line with the co-designed aftercare model of care.
The person in this role will be resourced with strong training and ongoing support mechanisms including clinical and cultural supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
ESSENTIAL:- Possess Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander primary health and or, Certificate IV in Mental Health, Certificate IV Community Services or equivalent training and or experience.
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, families and communities.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite.
- Awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history, knowledge of current issues affecting the lives of Aboriginal people.
- Demonstrated experience in office administration tasks.
- Current police check and WWC check.
- The ability to work outside normal office hours.
- The ability to travel and stay overnight/s.
- Current Class C driver’s licence.
DESIRABLE
- Trained Aboriginal Health Worker
- Is of Aboriginal descent, identified and accepted by their local Aboriginal community.
Aged Care Connector
This role will have the primary responsibility of connecting with local Elders, older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their families to raise awareness of their aged care entitlements.Position Term: Ongoing, 37.5 Hours per week
Summary of the Position:
The ACC has the primary responsibility of connecting with local Elders, older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their families to raise awareness of their aged care entitlements.
The overarching function of the ACC is to ensure that support for clients is organised, sequenced and supported to enable effective access to appropriate aged care services both internal and external to the ACCHO.
The ACC will work closely with the Aged Care Support Coordinator. They will also help determine the level of local demand for aged care services, identify existing aged care services, any service gaps in the area and continue advocacy work with clients as required.
Client Transport Officer (S50D)
To assist in the daily clinical operations of Bega Ganrbirringu Health Service by transporting clients to and from the Bega Clinic.- Aboriginality under Section 50D of the Equal Opportunity Act of 1984;
- Demonstrated ability to develop strong and productive partnerships with the Aboriginal Community, Bega employees and liaise effectively with key stakeholders;
- Demonstrated skills in implementing and managing community events/programs;

- Well-developed problem-solving skills and the ability to effectively determine priorities to ensure deadlines are met;

Community Care Educator
To deliver education and training of potential Aboriginal Health Workers in Primary Health Care and other training products on the RTO scope in line with Nindila’s policies and procedures in a time efficient manner and in consultation with the Training Manager.
Position Term: Ongoing, 37.5 Hours per week

ESSENTIAL:

- Sound knowledge and understanding of Primary Health Care
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to operate within a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills along with an ability to adapt to changing needs;
- Current Working with Children Check and Current Police Clearance (valid within 3 months)
- Knowledge of 2015 RTO Standards.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of cultural factors and social determinants particularly relating to Aboriginal Health.
- WA “C” Class drivers’ licence.
- Demonstrated high-level word processing skills and sound knowledge of Microsoft Office software packages.
- Ability to travel around the region as required.
Counsellor
The Counsellor is responsible for providing support in the delivery of Social and Emotional Wellbeing care to clients. The Counsellor forms part of the SEWB Multi-Disciplinary team and works collaboratively with the team and other programs areas.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Counselling or Psychology and/or appropriate professional registration in Western Australia
- Mental Health Accreditation and Registration is required (or the ability to acquire this within 3 months of commencement) with the Australian Counselling Association
- Knowledge and experience in working with people with social and emotional conditions
- Demonstrated assessment, case management and treatment skills
- A thorough knowledge of and experience
- High level oral and written communication skills, including the ability to relate well to staff and to liaise effectively with key stakeholders;

This position is a highly varied role that will see you working as part of a multi-disciplinary clinic team to deliver a comprehensive, holistic, culturally appropriate primary health care service to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of the Goldfields Region.

Actively participates as a member of the Bega clinic team to ensure the delivery of quality comprehensive primary, emergency and related health services and programs to Bega’s clients;
Ensure Bega and clients benefit from all Medicare approved service opportunities, including the active pursuit of and participation in initiatives such as the GPMP/TCA, Adult Health Checks, Child Health Checks, GP Management Plans and Team Care Plans based on the levels of training, and as per national KPI standards as may be operative from time to time;
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- Relevant qualification and registration with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles of comprehensive primary health care and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services
- Primary health care experience with advanced clinical skills and competencies needed to work effectively within an Aboriginal primary health care setting
- Understanding of the issues affecting the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people including social determinants of health
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with people from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds
- Demonstrated understanding of applicable accreditation standards including RACGP
- Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality and a high level of accuracy
- Work effectively as a member of a team in an environment of competing priorities
Tobacco Action Worker ( Male )
The Tobacco Action Worker ( Male) assists in the delivery of a culturally appropriate smoking cessation program, tailored to the needs of the ATSI community of the Goldfields region. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants are encouraged to apply.
