What you'll be doing
The Registered Nurse is required to work to their scope of practice. The Registered Nurse is to retain responsibility and accountability for their personal and professional actions.
The Registered Nurse will work with the Enrolled Nurse and Assistant in Nursing, and ensure that delegated functions are suitable to their scope of practice.
The Registered Nurse will work within the multidisciplinary team to provide patient centred care for patients with malignant solid tumours, haematological malignancies and other haematological disorders. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of person centred; evidence- based nursing care that promotes positive health outcomes. The Registered Nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with individuals and the multidisciplinary healthcare team, the patient and their family.
The Registered Nurse will assist in the provision of supervision and support for less experienced clinicians and will maintain their professional accountability and development in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board Australia's Standards of Practice.

Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra and Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has bed base of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.
Wollongong is located an hours drive south of Sydney on a narrow coastal strip bordered by the Royal National Park to the north, Lake Illawarra to the south, the Tasman Sea to the east and the Illawarra Escarpment to the west. Talent Pool
This recruitment may be used to create a talent pool / eligibility list where candidates may be offered casual, ongoing permanent, or temporary full-time or part-time positions within the next 18 months.
Please note: If you’re an overseas resident with a temporary visa, you can still apply for a job with ISLHD. To be eligible for a permanent appointment, applicants must be an Australian citizen or Australian resident.
Applicants holding temporary visas with working rights may be considered for a temporary appointment up to the expiry date of their visa. However, this option is only available when no suitable applicant for a permanent appointment is identified.
A National Police Check (criminal history record check) is a requirement for all new appointments to NSW

This role is a Category A role. Preferred applicants will be reviewed for compliance and required to maintain compliance with the screening, assessment and vaccination requirements, relevant to your position, as outlined in NSW Health policy directive on Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases.
For positions designated as child-related employment, or positions that may result in proximity to children, you will be required to obtain a Working with Children clearance number from the Office of the Children’s Guardian.
To obtain a WWCC clearance number, follow the instructions on the website of Service NSW, which includes completing an online application form and then attending a Service NSW Centre or a NSW Council Agency that provides Road and Maritime Services, to provide proof of identity and pay for the WWCC to be completed.
Please note that a volunteer WWCC (which is free) cannot be used for paid employment.
Selection Criteria
- Current registration with the Australia Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse 2nd Year or above.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver person-centred care in the relevant health care setting.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and work in an interdisciplinary team, including high level verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a time efficient manner.
- Demonstrated ability to use evidence to inform clinical practice.
- Recent clinical experience in Medical Oncology, Haematology and/or Radiation Oncology.
- Demonstrated competence in the delivery of cytotoxic medication or the commitment to undertake training (with support) to achieve competency in the delivery of cytotoxic medication.
- High level computer literacy and understanding of relevant health related information systems.
