- Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
- Scientific knowledge, expertise and skill in the delivery of pathology services within the disciplines of Transfusion Medicine, Haematology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and specimen reception.
- Experience in the use of a laboratory information system such as AUSLAB.
- Ability to work in a diverse scientific role and perform duties with varying degrees of independence depending on experience.
- Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner and an ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines.
- Interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients and with members of staff.
- Participate in the identification, development and implementation of quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification that enhance the delivery of pathology services within the local service area.
- A competent level of knowledge, expertise and skills within a multi-skilled laboratory.
- Ability to participate in a multidisciplinary team on a 5-day roster with on-call duties outside of rostered hours, and contribute a range of diagnostic skills relevant to the disciplines.
- Ability to apply established principles to the provision of results and advice in a client focussed manner.
- Perform duties with a high degree of independence and with infrequent supervision.
- Ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification.
- Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent qualification.
- Queensland Health staff will be required to participate in shift, on-call and/or weekend roster arrangements. In some circumstances and following consultation Queensland Health staff may be required to participate in 24-hour shift arrangements.This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Australia License.
