Senior Associate,HSSE

ABOUT THE POSITION
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) Associate to manage and oversee all HSSE activities across development, construction, and operational sites in Australia. In this role, you will ensure the consistent application of Vena Energy’s Integrated Management System (IMS), support the Manager of HSSE with corporate reporting, budgeting, risk management, training, auditing, and ensure compliance with all related HSSE requirements. Your commitment to strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations will be vital in promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across our projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Conduct health and safety audits and reviews of the IMS across construction & operational sites Australia wide.
2.Review contractor health and safety documentation and benchmark against Vena Energy’s integrated management system.
3.Ensure the consistent and thorough implementation of Vena Energy’s Integrated Management System (IMS), across construction & operational sites Australia wide.
4.Promote and champion the importance of Vena Energy’s IMS principles across all projects and interactions
5.Coordinate with VE’s construction, operational and legal teams to ensure appropriate gap analysis is undertaken on all head contractor HSSE documentation for VEA’s projects in construction and operations.
6.Prepare all required health and safety reports which include regulatory (quarterly, annual, etc.), internal (weekly, monthly, etc.) and other related health, safety, security and environment documents in relation to projects.
7.Assist VE development managers to prepare and update relevant project HSSE risk assessments across the different stages of development (feasibility, construction and operation).
8.Ensure compliance with VE & regulatory incident reporting requirements and, where appropriate, manage incident investigations and reporting.
9.Assist to prepare annual health and safety budgets aligned with Vena Energy’s global strategy.
10.Assist in the review, development and maintenance of the HSSE management systems that include policies, manuals, procedures, and method statements that relate to VE.
11.Assist to coordinate and conduct HSSE training programs including basic safety inductions, hazard identification and risk assessments.
12.Maintain current knowledge of federal, state and local health and safety regulations, policies and standards pertinent to Vena Energy business interests.
13.Assist in the delivery and review of business continuity plans and business impact analysis for VE’s corporate office, construction and operational sites.
14.Coordinate the delivery of monthly health and safety meetings between VE and head contractors on construction and operational sites.
15.Other duties as assigned as required.

EDUCATION
- Diploma – WHS;
- Certificate IV - WHS
- Lead auditor’s course
- First Aid and CPR
- White card (General Construction Induction)
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in occupational/workplace health and safety
- Environmental knowledge and experience within construction is highly desirable
SKILLS
Technical/Professional Skills
- Experience in the electricity / energy industry and construction sector.
- Comprehensive understanding of WHS legislation
- Good analytical skills and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to confidently interact with peers, external parties and management.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong work ethic.
- Highly organized, methodical and efficient.
- History of working effectively in a team environment.
