Our Digital Media Design Program offers hands-on experience in digital creativity, including graphic design, animation, video production, and interactive media, preparing students for higher education and industry pathways.
The Role
We’re seeking a Senior Digital Design Instructor who is passionate about teaching young creators. This role involves guiding students from foundational to advanced levels in digital design, with a focus on fostering creativity, technical skills, and real-world applications. The ideal candidate will possess strong digital design expertise and the ability to design engaging lesson plans while creating a positive, child-friendly learning environment.
What You'll Do
- Conduct interactive digital design classes for students aged 10-18, across beginner to advanced levels.
- Prepare and implement lesson plans that align with VDA’s curriculum objectives, ensuring a balance between creativity and technical mastery.
- Provide mentorship and support for students' progress, helping them build confidence and skills in digital design.
- Plan and facilitate mid-year and end-of-year student exhibitions.
- Collaborate with VDA staff on curriculum development and instructional strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media, Graphic Design, or a related field.
- Teaching experience, particularly with students aged 8-18.
- Comprehensive knowledge of digital design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects).
- Strong understanding of child-friendly teaching approaches.
- Valid Working with Children Check and relevant teaching certifications.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements - Senior Digital Design Instructor
Position Responsibilities
- Classroom Instruction
- Deliver interactive digital design lessons that cover fundamentals to advanced techniques.
- Tailor teaching methods to suit different age groups and learning levels.
- Guide students in developing projects for mid-year and end-of-year exhibitions.
- Curriculum and Lesson Planning
- Prepare lesson plans that align with VDA’s structured curriculum.
- Ensure lessons incorporate core digital media disciplines (graphic design, animation, video production, etc.).
- Stay updated with digital design trends to enhance lesson relevance and appeal.
- Student Development
- Monitor and assess students' progress, providing constructive feedback.
- Offer additional learning support for late joiners or students requiring extra help.
- Encourage creativity, confidence, and collaborative learning.
- Administrative Tasks
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance.
- Participate in VDA team meetings and professional development sessions.
- Industry Engagement
- Facilitate industry engagement opportunities (e.g., guest speakers, field trips).
- Collaborate on student exhibitions, ensuring professional standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media, Graphic Design, or related field.
- Proven teaching experience with young learners (ages 8-18) in digital design.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects).
- Strong understanding of teaching methodologies for young learners.
- Valid Working with Children Check.
- Teaching certification and relevant child safety training.

Pay: $65,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
