About the role
Permanent full time opportunity to provide advanced clinical expertise and care relevant to individuals appearing before the magistrates' court or detained in the local watch-house with the focus on providing mental health screening assessments and facilitating diversion for this cohort. The purpose of this service is the early identification of people with a mental illness to ensure that appropriate mental health treatment, advice or referral is made.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

• Develop an understanding of the new mental health act and perform functions as required under changes to the legislation in accordance with CLS procedures as they develop. This may require written reports to various members of the court systems.
• Develop clinical practice knowledge and expertise through active learning within the team and by engaging in professional development activities.
• Collaborating in the initiation, development and provision of training to other mental health staff and provide professional education sessions to others within the service.
