Agency Overview
You will be working with a diverse and dynamic team within the System Performance Support Branch, System Sustainability and Performance Division and based at 1 Reserve Road, St Leonards, NSW 2065. The System Performance Support Branch has the lead role in monitoring the performance of health services by working in close partnership with health service executives, senior managers and clinicians as well as other parts of the Ministry and pillar organisations.

About the Role
The Senior Project Officer coordinates the development and implementation of a range of projects and policy initiatives that contribute to achieving the NSW Virtual Care Strategy’s priorities in alignment with Government objectives. The role performs project management and policy development activities and provides informed advice to enable the System Performance Support Branch to oversee reforms that support the future vision for the health system.
The System Performance Support branch team works in close partnership with health service executives, senior managers, and clinicians in collaboration with other Ministry of Health and health pillar staff to support the performance of health services. Staff within the branch provide expert advice on issues that may impact on health system performance, identify opportunities for performance improvement, and assist health services in the development and implementation of improvement plans. The branch promotes the implementation of state-wide patient flow initiatives that improve and enhance the delivery of high quality, efficient and effective health services for the NSW community.
A key priority for the Branch is the implementation of the NSW Virtual Care Strategy. Virtual Care has the ability to inform, connect, personalise, accelerate, and complement existing services to deliver care, from disease prevention and treatment to ongoing monitoring. There is a significant opportunity to relieve the pressure on Emergency Departments (ED) and hospitals by leveraging virtual care to enhance virtual urgent care and current Hospital in the Home services.

Selection Criteria
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and demonstrated experience in health, preparing advice to executives to support informed decision making and implementation of complex health reform projects.
- Demonstrated highly developed project management skills and the ability to plan and implement complex Connected Care, especially virtual care and related projects or policies on time.
- Demonstrated strong organisational skills and a proven ability to deliver high-quality work in a demanding professional environment.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) including the ability to synthesise and present complex concepts to diverse audiences to support strategic decision making.
- Demonstrated advanced interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills, with experience developing collaborative relationships with stakeholders to achieve project goals and manage competing stakeholder perspectives.
- Demonstrated experience engaging with stakeholders including clinicians to develop solutions to complex issues.
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to analyse and interpret complex health information from a variety of sources to make informed recommendations.
- The ability to pro-actively identify, manage and mitigate emerging risks in a multi-disciplinary health policy environment.
