An opportunity has become available for a Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist (Children's Critical Care Unit) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 10,000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
About the role
Provide clinical support and specialist clinical care as part of an interdisciplinary team delivering children's critical care services, specialist paediatric intensive care expertise and advice. Work collaboratively across departments (particularly with Intensive Care, Neonatal Intensive Care, Paediatrics, Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, Surgery and Level 6 Paediatric Intensive Care Services from other Hospital and Health Services) to facilitate and improve the care of paediatric patients. Promote and maintain a high standard of clinical service provision across the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service (GCHHS).
Requirements for the role

• Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, Hepatitis B and Tuberculosis screening.
• Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed.
• MBBS or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) in one of the following areas:
• Intensive Care Medicine - FCICM or equivalent acceptable to the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand; or
• Anaesthetics - FANZCA or equivalent acceptable to the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists; or
• Emergency Medicine - FACEM or equivalent acceptable to the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine; or
• Paediatrics - FRACP or equivalent acceptable to the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
• Appropriate training/fellowship within a Paediatric Intensive Care setting.
• Applicant must have demonstrated significant paediatric experience in training and clinical practice of the management of critically ill patients including advanced airway management, ventilation strategies, vascular access techniques and management of vasoactive agents. This will be demonstrated by time spent in a paediatric service recognised by the relevant College.
• Internationally trained candidates may require an acceptable Comparability Assessment undertaken by the appropriate Australian Specialist Medical College as part of the application process.
• Relevant qualification/s and registration must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
• Strong clinical and teaching experience in Intensive Care.
• The incumbent will be required to participate in an after-hours and on-call roster for the Children's Critical Care Unit.

Salary information

• Temporary full time
• Estimated total remuneration up to $498,017 p.a., comprising:
• Senior Staff Specialist: Base salary from $251,527 - $266,677 p.a
• Staff Specialist: Base salary from $210,332 - $244,313 p.a
• Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
• Motor vehicle allowance

• Granted private practice rights
