Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA)

We are on our path towards becoming the Commonwealths “Strategic Shipbuilder” in the West, aiming to be in contract for the Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA). Join us for this exciting opportunity to be part of continuous naval shipbuilding, contributing and significant work for the Australian Defence Force.
The SSA will establish an overarching program which enables the design and build of vessels at the Henderson Shipyard. The objective of the SSA is to possess the capacity and capability to initially deliver Landing Craft Medium & Heavy for the Australian Army in supporting continuous naval shipbuilding in WA.
The SSA is about establishing the capability within the Henderson Precinct, and Western Australia, to continuously build vessels for the Commonwealth. It will be led by Austal, and will require the engagement of local industry, supply chain and workforce to be successful.

About the Opportunity
Providing senior supply support services within the Integrated Supplier Support team to acquisition programs, the incumbent will. Ensuring that the correct spares, equipage, support & test equipment, and training equipment is managed and provided to the customer on time and within the approved budget. Identifying improvements to Austal supply support business processes to achieve efficiencies and reduce the scheduled time taken and managing team capability and performance against established objectives to ensure a proactive and responsive customer service culture is maintained.
- Development of the supply support concept to the requirements of the contract and to ensure effective vessel/equipment availability requirements are achieved.
- Lead and manage Program supply support officers
- In collaboration with the maintenance team, assist with the specification of the ship’s spare parts and maintenance support items required by the contract;
- Manage and deliver the spares, ship’s outfit, and support & test equipment on time and on budget.
- Develop and manage the data and codification requirements relating to the supplies.
- Perform effective collaboration with other disciplines including Project Management, Configuration Management, maintenance, and Supply Chain.
- Understand and apply business processes.
- Manage assigned personnel including performing staff development functions.
- Support lean and efficient methods in delivery of contracted activities.
- Other tasks as directed.
Skills and Experience
- Qualifications or experience in supply chain management, engineering, a relevant trade and/or logistic
- 5 years’ experience in logistic support
- Excellent computer skills
- Understanding of the importance and role of data in the logistics program.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills
- Problem solving and independent decision making.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a team.
- Experience in Defence contract logistic programs
- Maritime experience
- Knowledge of ISO 55000 Asset Management desirable
Due to the Security Clearance required for this position, applicants must be an Australian Citizen and eligible to obtain and uphold a Baseline Security Clearance through the Australian Department of Defence.
