About the role
The purpose of this role is to deliver routine to increasingly more complex level adult speech pathology clinical services within the Department of Speech Pathology and as a member of a multidisciplinary team to patients and other stakeholders of the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. This involves the assessment, diagnosis and management of patients with tracheostomy, swallowing and communication disorders.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

• Exercise competent professional clinical judgement in providing speech pathology clinical services. Clinical services include the assessment, diagnosis, and management of routine to increasingly complex communication disorders, tracheostomy, and swallowing disorders in the acute and subacute setting with more complex management performed under supervision. As clinical experience builds, clinical decisions and problem solving should be made by exercising increasingly independent clinical judgement.
• Clinical services will be delivered in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
• Participate in clinical research activities with demonstrated outcomes to advance speech pathology practice as required.
• Develop clinical practice knowledge and expertise through actively engaging in professional development activities including departmental in-services and attendance at local / state-wide/ national workshops and conferences. These activities must be linked to the individual's performance appraisal and development plan.
• As clinical experience builds, participate as a sole clinician in a seven day roster and/or in the weekend/public holiday speech pathology service roster to improve patient care, reduce patient risk and improve patient flow.
