ROLE PURPOSE
The Tasmania DC Operations Manager is responsible for planning, directing, managing and improving the operational capacity of the DCs within the remit to. Lead all aspects of the Distribution Centre strategically and operationally through safety, service, cost and people. Manage with a Best Practice perspective and drive continuous improvement to enhance business execution and growth. Headline responsibilities include:
- Drive the strategic direction of the DC in line with company Values.
- Provide strong, visible and consistent leadership in accordance with company goals and objectives.
- Develop and maintain appropriate relationships with the customer to facilitate the successful accomplishment of company objectives and performance indicators.
- Leadership excellence and accelerated capability development regarding best practices, compliance, safety, budgeting, planning and people engagement.
- Ensuring strong working relationships are maintained with Sales, Supply Chain Planning, Customer Service & Transport leadership teams.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Safety
- Promote a safe environment daily, celebrating safety achievements and ensuring Zero Harm culture.
- Ensure compliance with WHS policies, regulations, and procedures, collaborating with the national safety team for site safety initiatives.
- Lead the Site Safety Committee, incident investigations, and safety observations, promoting best practices and timely corrective actions.
Service
- Champion customer service excellence, aligning team performance with customer needs and business strategies.
- Drive innovative solutions, competitive differentiation, and accurate inventory outcomes to meet and exceed service KPIs.
- Cultivate customer and supplier relationships to enhance service performance and Winc’s value proposition.
Commercial Focus
- Develop and manage budgets, maximizing return and minimizing unplanned expenses.
- Ensure timely, accurate reporting and create a continuous improvement culture, working with national teams to benchmark and drive performance.
- Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance cost efficiency and service levels.
Best Team
- Demonstrate inspirational leadership by living company values and fostering a high-performance culture.
- Align team objectives with business goals, providing coaching, mentoring, and succession planning.
- Ensure effective communication, collaboration, and consistent application of policies across the team.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven success in leadership roles within warehousing and logistics operations, with hands-on experience in high-volume, SKU-level environments.
- Strong commercial acumen in budgeting and finance, with demonstrated turnaround experience.
- Diploma-level qualification in logistics, warehousing, or supply chain (preferred).
- Proficient in WMS, labour management, TMS, and intermediate MS Office skills.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and decision-making skills, with a proven ability to manage key stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills, commercial acumen, and a solid understanding of OH&S and Industrial Relations legislation.
