Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women’s Council was founded and is still led, governed and directed by women from the NPY region. It was created to give a voice to women across 26 desert communities in the cross-border regions of Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory. Today, we continue to provide progressive, innovative and evidence-based work in service delivery, advocacy and support.
The NPY Women’s Council’s Youth Service works with children and young people (aged 10-25) and their families living in the NPY region, and is integral to the work we do. The Youth Service model is based on four key components: Case Management; Leadership and Education; Youth Diversion and Recreation; and Advocacy.
ABOUT THE TEAM

The NPY Women’s Council Youth Program works with children and young people aged 10-25 and their families. Our model is based on four key components: case management, leadership and education, youth diversion and recreation as well as advocacy and collaboration. The main activities of the NPYWC Youth Program are to:
Identify young people who are at risk and provide enjoyable and safe recreational activities.
Divert young people from substance misuse, other harmful and anti-social behaviour and entry into the criminal justice system.
Provide case management and support to those most at risk and to their families Identify and advocate in relation to gaps in services and programs for young people in the cross-border region.
Pursue initiatives such as leadership training, the Kungka Career Conference, structured school holiday programs and youth committees.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Team Leader – Projects position is responsible for assisting the Program Manager and Assistant Manager in leading Youth Program staff to work with Anangu communities in developing, implementing and reviewing projects and strategies to address the social and emotional needs of youth on communities.
More specifically, you will:
Provide effective and efficient coordination of youth projects. The current projects include: Kulintja Palyaringkunytjaku https://www.npywc.org.au/youth/programs-and-projects/kulintja-palyaringkuntjaku/ , Iwara Project, Boarding School Project, School holiday program, NGU news magazine production and other special projects as they arise.

We are a trauma-informed organisation and this guides our work.
Ensure Project Officers are provided with the support and supervision they require to be effective in their roles
Participate in the Youth Program management team meetings, which focus on operational and team development aspects of the program.
Identifying service gaps and undertake advocacy to ensure these gaps are minimised.
Develop and implement projects that meet the needs of Indigenous Youth in the NPY Region.

ABOUT YOU
It is essential for the ideal candidate to have relevant qualifications in either social work, case work, community development or related human services, as well as experience in youth work. Exposure to remote indigenous communities will be highly regarded.You will have experience supervising and/or mentoring staff – preferably Indigenous and non-Indigenous

You will work within a supportive, trauma informed team in an organisation which provides a comprehensive orientation program. You will receive best practice supervision and professional development that includes vicarious trauma, case management and four-wheel driving training. We also provide critical incident debriefing and a range of counselling services to support you.
In addition to this, we offer a generous remuneration package, an above award salary, salary packaging benefits, 32 days of annual leave, 15 days of personal leave (to care for you and your family) and a retention bonus. We also provide NPY Women’s Council accommodation and use of a company vehicle whilst living remote and travelling.
