Position Descriptor:
Oodnadatta Aboriginal School is located in Oodnadatta near the western edge of the Simpson Desert in the far north of South Australia. It is Anangu Tjuta Nguru country of Yankunytjatjara and Southern Arrente language groups. Oodnadatta is a welcoming community with a Pink Roadhouse (for daily shopping), medical clinic and police station supporting a community of approximately 150 residents. Coober Pedy is 2.5 hours away with access to an IGA, chemist and a wider range of facilities.

Oodnadatta Aboriginal School is a happy, relaxed but purposeful learning environment with highly supportive staff. It is a well presented, well-resourced site with a pool and air-conditioned gym facility. The daily attendance of students fluctuates and in 2025, we expect to have up to 15 students with ages ranging from Preschool to Year 10. Developing students' global perspectives are important and we work with outside agencies to engage in learning. Staff and Community also work together to facilitate a highly valued Cultural Learning program.

We are looking for a teacher who can work with students ranging from year 3 to 12 that can deliver an explicit Literacy and Numeracy curriculum as well as assisting students to begin their Modified SACE/VET journey. Being able to teach highly structured lessons with set routines, differentiate the curriculum and use explicit teaching are key skills in obtaining best results from students. You will have an SSO to support student learning - being able to communicate and provide instruction in a collegial fashion is necessary.

All staff will be supported to adjust to teaching in a remote setting and graduate teachers are encouraged to apply. Housing is furnished with air conditioning and staff are not required to share. A desalination plant has recently been installed for safe drinking water. Two travel days are permitted at the beginning and ending of each term.
