Position Descriptor:
The successful applicant will teach junior primary aged students at Riverland Special School with a range of disabilities including multiple disabilities, focusing on the use of ABLES and the Australian Curriculum (predominantly pre-Foundation level) to engage students in learning and life skills development.

You will work with students with highly complex and challenging behaviours and utilise positive and proactive strategies to support communication as most are non-verbal and use PODD, Proloquo and other forms to support communication, to achieve wellbeing and learning goals.

You will develop One Plans to support individual student goals to ensure learning is tailored for the Academic, Physical, Social, Emotional and Communication needs of the student.

As a special education classroom teacher the applicant will manage a range of SSO staff providing differentiated tasks for instruction and clear direction to support student outcomes.

Experience in supporting students with special needs and/or disabilities is preferred as well as targeted and individualised planning using ABLES and pre-Foundational concepts. Riverland Special School is an R-12+ school, and the applicant needs to be prepared to work with age groups as per the needs of the school.
