The Opportunity

As the Recycling Education and Communications Officer, you will develop content for our website and social media platforms, as well as creating promotional materials and media releases to ensure our community are up to date on all things waste and recycling.
You’ll attend community events to share information and influence community behaviours regarding waste minimisation.


In this role, you will also provide specialist advice to internal and external stakeholders, collaborating with our media team, and engaging schools and community groups to improve awareness of council’s recycling and waste minimisation initiatives.



This is a part time position, working 3.5 days per week (other configurations may also be discussed) from the Lakes Entrance office. Opportunity for additional hours may be available supporting broader sustainability initiatives.



Things
You’re Proud Of (Key Selection Criteria)

  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing, media design, environmental sustainability education and/or significant relevant experience in the marketing, communications field preferred.
  • Experience working in rural/regional communities.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with a range of stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Relevant knowledge and understanding about waste, litter and recycling issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to responsibly self-direct and work autonomously
  • Relevant skills in written media, spreadsheets, and websites
  • Demonstrated ability to improve the customer experience through effective waste education programs.
  • A current, valid Victorian Driver’s licence.
If successful, you will need to undertake a police check and have an employee Working with Children Check. You must also be legally entitled to work in Australia.
