The Opportunity
Located at Perth Children’s Hospital, the Welcome Crew are the face The Kids Research Institute Australia and provide an exceptional visitor experience in-person, via phone and online to Institute guests, staff & visitors. Not only do the welcome crew host the concierge desk and switchboard, help run our interactive Discovery Centre, volunteer programme, school excursions and other institute wide events.
We now have an opportunity for a permanent full-time position for someone with exceptional customer service skills to join our Welcome Crew and work in a role that provides variety. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and engaging with people then this is the position for you!
Reporting to the Connect Manager, no two days will be the same in this busy and varied customer facing role. Not only will you help run the switchboard and concierge, but you will also have the opportunity to engage with families, children and school groups who visit the Discovery Centre and conduct interactive activities ensuring their visit is enjoyable and educational.
Key areas of responsibility include:
  • Be the first face to face point of contact for visitors and staff to The Kids Research Institute Australia, always responding positively and efficiently to staff and visitors.
  • Manage a busy switchboard, directing calls appropriately and providing accurate information where necessary.
  • Assist with the administration and onboarding of volunteers.
  • Meet specific visitor needs, thereby enhancing access and encouraging return visits, especially for children with special needs.
  • Providing operational support to institute events & conferences
  • Administration duties and leave coverage as required.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have exceptional customer service skills and understands the importance of creating a positive, memorable experience to our visitors and guests. You will thrive working in a fast-paced environment with excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise.
  • Along with this, you must also be able to demonstrate;
  • First Aid certification.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and ability to relate to a diverse range of people.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Exceptional verbal, written communication skills and telephone manner.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Not afraid of technology with intermediate experience with Microsoft Office suite (notably Excel).
