As a Welfare Officer, you will play a key role in promoting the health and wellbeing of detainees at an Immigration Detention Facility. Your work will involve delivering case management and developing programs that enhance detainees' mental health, resilience, and overall wellbeing. By coordinating activities and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, you will ensure that detainees have access to meaningful and supportive welfare services.
As a Welfare Officer in the Welfare and Engagement team, you’ll make a positive impact by:
- Developing and implementing individual case plans for detainees, addressing their unique needs
- Facilitating a range of structured and unstructured activities that cater to diverse interests and backgrounds
- Supporting detainee access to educational, recreational, and spiritual resources
- Maintaining accurate records and case notes, ensuring quality and timely reporting
- Collaborating with other stakeholders to provide comprehensive support for detainees
You are empathetic and culturally sensitive, with a passion for supporting the wellbeing of individuals from diverse backgrounds. You have strong organisational skills and experience in case management or welfare services. Your ability to build trust and provide effective support will help you make a meaningful difference in this role.
To be successful in this role you’ll have:
- At least two years’ experience in case management or conducting structured activities for adults
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- First Aid and CPR Certificate with at least 2 months validity
- Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse individuals
- Valid WWCC
