The Salvation Army Youth Services offer an integrated suite of programs engaging with young people across Australia. Our services create intentional avenues for young people to explore opportunities, build support networks, and access, participate and contribute to their communities. Youth services provide a diverse range of programs which include housing and homelessness, driver training, education, employment, and training, AOD support, social and community activities, specialist therapeutic responses and youth justice programs.
About the role
Provide intensive Case Management support and assistance to young people residing at the Oasis Youth Services Crisis Accommodation Service and the Oasis Case Management Services Transitional Accommodation Program. Assistance will be provided to each young person on an individual basis, to support them with support, build and maintain connections to enhance their lives. Young people will be supported to work towards independence and building connections within the community.
You will successfully
  • provide case management to Clients of the Oasis Crisis Services, Sydney Transitional Accommodation Program & Early Intervention Residents
  • Assist in the creation of a positive environment within the services which promotes the physical, emotional, spiritual & social development of young people
  • Ensure clients are not subjected to any form of abuse or discrimination, in particular, bullying and harassment.
  • Through appropriate activities & strategies, identify, build rapport & engage with clients in order to respond to their immediate and longer term needs & offer appropriate case management support within a client focused, Trauma Informed Care framework & empower them to achieve their identified goals.
  • Liaise with government & NGO’s in the assessment & implementation of young people’s case plans as required, including client centered case conferencing
  • Create & maintain all required record keeping, including client files, statistics, financial records, monthly reports & other administrative records
  • Work towards maintaining a high level of new referrals of clients into the Oasis suite of services
This is a full-time, permanent position located in Surry Hills, NSW. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Crisis Level 2.
You will have
  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Diploma) in Youth Work, Community Services, Social Work or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated work experience in youth services, case management, homelessness, health, addiction, or other related welfare fields.
  • Knowledge & understanding of youth homelessness & relevant health, addiction & welfare issues & appropriate intervention strategies
  • Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and religions.
  • Experience in or understanding of the Trauma Informed Care approach
  • Current NSW Driver’s License.
  • Flexibility with work hours to meet the operational requirements of the position.
  • Willingness to work within a Trauma Informed Care framework
