Moree Corps is a community-focused church, partnering with the wider community to help transform one life at a time with the love of Jesus. This is achieved Sunday Worship Services, Financial Counselling, the Family Store and other community programs.
About the role
We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Youth & Children Outreach Worker to provide professional support for young people who are vulnerable or at-risk through designated programs and outreach activities.
Reporting to the Program Manager, this is a Max-Term (2 years), full-time position based in Moree, NSW. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award Level 2.
You will successfully
  • Co-ordinate children and youth holiday, in-school, outreach breakfast and other activity programs.
  • Mentor a small group of high school students.
  • Acquire and maintain a good working knowledge of internal and external youth and family services and support options for young people.
  • Work with staff and volunteers to coordinate existing youth and children’s programs and to make effective referrals that and enable young people to access the support they require.
You will have
  • The willingness to study a Cert IV level qualification in Youth Work or related field.
  • A current NSW Driver Licence with willingness to attain a Light Rigid Licence.
  • A current NSW Employee Working With Children Check.
  • A valid First Aid Certificate.
  • A reasonable level of fitness in order to carry out the duties of this position (e.g. Capacity to play games/sports with youth/children; duties include setting and packing up for programs).
  • Capacity to facilitate groups and one to one with a particular focus e.g. sports and recreation, dancing, cooking & maintaining respectful relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging young people of varying cultural, racial, socio-economic and educational backgrounds.
  • The ability to develop and maintain rapport with young people.
  • Energy, flexibility, initiative and integrity with a positive and friendly attitude.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills including listening, interpersonal and networking skills.
  • A basic understanding of the impact of trauma among young people and the ability to maintain a professional, non-judgmental approach at all times.
  • An understanding of WHS and Privacy standards required within youth specific programs.
  • Able to work autonomously and with minimal supervision.
