About This Role
To support young people with problematic alcohol and other dependent substance use through their journey of recovery. Working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic and comprehensive supports for clients.
To deliver a safe, secure, and clean environment for clients in a 24-hour residential setting. To engage and support clients in pro-social activities and day to day life skills that are aligned with the values and mission of the Salvation Army.
You Will Successfully
As the Youth Support Worker you will have the responsibility for the following:
- To engage and support clients in pro-social activities and day to day life skills that are aligned with the youth services model of care.
- Develop effective and supportive relationships with clients, ensuring that each client is treated with respect, dignity and confidentiality.
- Develop a co-operative relationship with all staff members, to ensure an effective team approach to program implementations and service delivery.
- Plan, develop, implement and evaluate appropriate life skills and other appropriate programs for clients.
- Provide information and referral service to non-government and statutory organisations, community organisations and individuals as required.
- Escalate any critical incidents to the team leader/manager.
- Provide direct support to clients using a case management framework.
- Ensure that information on relevant community resources is available to clients and refer to relevant service providers as necessary.
You Will Have
A Certificate 4 or higher qualification in social work, youth work, community work or equivalent.
- Experience working with people with problematic alcohol and other dependent substance use within a Case Management Framework
- Experience working with young people from culturally and linguistically diverse
backgrounds and religions.
- Competent in Microsoft Office..
- A national police record check is required
- Drivers Licence
- Working with Children Card-WWCC is mandatory
- A current first aid or the ability to quickly obtain one
This is a casual position based in Rowes Bay , Townsville QLD
Salary is accordance with - SCHADS Social and Community Services Lvl 3
