At the Institute of Sensor and Actuator Systems, in the Research Unit of Micro- and Nanosensors TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (prae-doc) limited to expected 4 years for 40 hours/week, in the field of nanomechanical infrared spectroscopy for environmental sensing with focus on nanoplastic detection and identification. Expected start: January 2025.

Tasks:

Research and project activity
Collaboration on research and teaching tasks as well as examinations
Cooperation and guidance of students
Writing a dissertation and publications
Participation in scientific events
Assistance/Collaboration in organizational and administrative tasks

Your profile:

Completion of a master's or diploma curriculum in one of these fields: physics, electrical engineering, or similar
Skillful and responsible in experimental and theoretical work
Very good skills in English communication and writing
Interest in research in the field of optomechanics, nanoelectromechanical systems, and sensor technology as well as supervision and work with students
Very good communication skills and team competencies and innovative ability

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 3.578,80/month gross, 14 times/year for 40 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
