In the role of Frontend Software Engineer, your primary focus will be crafting engaging and intuitive user experiences for our geospatial Sales Enablement tools using Java Script and React, while occasionally taking on backend development tasks in Python. Our Engineering teams are in Cambridge (UK), Denver (USA), Salt Lake City (USA), and Ghent (Belgium) and are responsible for designing and developing our geospatial products which are available both as cloud services and for on-premises deployment. You will be helping to develop the next generation of innovative geospatial products that support mission-critical operations for our global customer base.


Duties/Responsibilities
As a core member of the Engineering team, you will drive new product releases and help expand our existing product suite. Your key responsibilities include:

• Designing, developing, unit testing, maintaining, and enhancing product features, with an emphasis on building a robust, scalable software architecture.
• Identifying, isolating, and resolving bugs to ensure the product remains stable and reliable.
• Conducting thorough code reviews and incorporating feedback from peers to maintain our high standards of code quality.
• Collaborating closely with Product Management to refine feature requests and ensure smooth transitions from concept to implementation.
• Engaging in an agile development process, participating in regular team meetings throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Skills & Experience


Essential
You must have all of the following:

• Professional experience building efficient client-side applications in Java Script and React.
• Profound understanding of HTML and CSS.
• General knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming.
• Experience with SQL and RDBMS technology (e.g. Postgre SQL, Oracle, SQLite).
• Experience integrating frontend and backend components.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Belgian citizenship or permanent residency is required.
• Fluent in both written and spoken English.

Desirable
Ideally, you’ll have several of the following:

• Experience building web applications in Python, preferably through the Pyramid framework.
• Experience creating and running automated tests (e.g. Playwright).
• Experience using the j Query library.
• Experience of working with Post GIS or other Geospatial Information Systems (GIS).
• Experience with web mapping frameworks (e.g. Open Layers).
• Experience of working in an Agile environment, with an understanding of Scrum.
• Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes.
• Fluent in both written and spoken Dutch.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field; or equivalent industry experience.
