Graduate Trainee EHS.
You will be working in Herstal.
The role will include limited travel to the facilities in Venlo and to customer sites in Belgium & the Netherlands (max 2/month).
Who are we looking for?
Our EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa) Graduate Program is designed for recent graduates who are looking for a challenging yet rewarding experience and want to take a leap into a global organization following completion of their studies.
We are looking for motivated individuals who are willing to think outside the box, share new ideas and take on new challenges. Successful candidates will join us between August and October. The first training session will take place during October.

Each graduate in our program takes on a focused role to develop their expertise in a specific area and make a difference for the local business team.

Key Objectives:
After the cross-European training program the key objective is to become an EHS Specialist
Responsibilities:
In collaboration with the EHS Manager Belgium & Netherlands based in Herstal:
Ensure implementation and ongoing improvement of environmental health and safety processes and systems within Veolia. Align with site management to maintain consistency with policies, standards, and improvement plan priorities as well as compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.
Serve as a catalyst and expert resource to promote and maintain a positive safety culture within the company. Provide health & safety direction and leadership to the teams.
The following activities are a guideline, others can be part of the job scope:

• Maintain the EHS management system in place (ISO 45001 and Veolia EHS Framework)
• Implement safe working techniques, drive employees’ safe behaviours, lead the environmental health and safety culture
• Implement the annual EHS Action Plan priorities
• Ensure compliance with local regulations and Veolia internal EHS Standards; fulfil legal reporting requirements
• Realise EHS risk assessments / support or train employees regarding them
• Coordinate EHS Training Plan and deliver EHS training to the operational teams
• Provide expertise during reporting and investigations of Health & Safety concerns and incidents, develop corrective actions.
• Realise EHS Field audits at customer sites, support the corrective actions identified
• Participate in sub-contractors EHS evaluation
• When practical, implement employee wellness initiatives to support a healthy work environment.
• Maintain Gensuite & other digital EHS tools;

Qualifications
Minimum requirements

• Environmental, Health and Safety Engineer or bachelor / or Technical Engineer or bachelor / or Chemical Engineer or bachelor
• Safety advisor level 1 or 2 or open to apply for the safety advisor training
• Fluently speaking French & English
• Dutch language skills
• Good communications skills
• Hands-on mentality

Nice to haves:

• Knowledge of Belgian, Netherlands and European EHS legislation
• Awareness of VCA & ISO 45001 standards
• Environmental Coordinator
• Open and available to frequent traveling during the trainee program
